STAS (Société des Technologies de l’Aluminium du Saguenay Inc.,) is a well established company and a recognised leader in its innovative abilities to develop, fabricate and commercialise new technologically advanced equipment. The industry sector includes aluminium serving a global market place, with quality specifications that comply with world standards.
Founded in 1989, STAS employs more than 125 persons, with 70 engineers and technicians having a broad expertise in process and design. STAS has grown rapidly due to its competitiveness in the global market place, the expertise of its staff and the quality of its products and services. STAS holds licenses with Alcoa and Alcan.
STAS is located in the heart of Quebec, Canada, where about 3,000,000 tonnes of aluminium are produced by the world’s most technologically advanced plants. Quebec is also renowned for its production of minerals and wood products. World class research and development facilities located in Quebec provide a continuing flow of new equipment to be commercialised; among those facilities are the Alcan R&D Centre, the Centre québécois de recherche et de développement de l'aluminium (CQRDA), the Centre de recherche industrielle du Québec (CRIQ) and the National Research Council Canada (NRC).
Most of STAS’ sales activities are managed from its headquarters in the Saguenay region, in Quebec, Canada. An extended network of agents in dozens of countries and/or geographical areas around the world are working together to promote STAS technologies.
STAS’ particular expertise is in the aluminium industry, with annual sales worth 15 to $20,000,000 of which 70 to 75% are exported, focusing on primary and secondary smelters.
STAS Group includes two legal entities:
